The time to send kids back to school is right around the corner.

As summer winds down and backpacks become the accessory for the season, here are some events happening in and near Preston Hollow this August.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

The Episcopal School of Dallas Alumni will  hold their performance of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee from Aug. 3 – Aug. 5. Tickets are $10 for students and $20 for adults and available for purchase online.

Junior League of Dallas and Dallas Mayor back to school bash

Preston Hollow-based Junior League of Dallas and Dallas ISD Superintendent Dr. Stephanie S. Elizalde will help kickoff the annual Dallas Mayor’s Back to School Fair from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Aug. 4. The fair will take place at Fair Park.

Each year, the fair serves more than 10,000 economically disadvantaged students in grade levels pre-K to 12th and their families, according to the press release.

School shopping at Galleria Dallas

During the state’s tax-free weekend, parents can take care of back-to-school shopping from Aug. 11 -13 at the Galleria. There will also be special promotions and discounts from retailers throughout the mall. Find out more in this previous Advocate article.
