Dealey announced there would be an interim principal after principal Christina Ibarra was reassigned last week. This week, the school and Ibarra have responded with statements.

The latest leave from principal Ibarra marks this as the three principals in four years and other interims that served between the periods. On Tuesday, Dealey announced they are hopeful to find a new candidate for principal and have asked the community and school members for input.

“We know this is an unexpected adjustment for everyone,” the email from executive director of the school, Dr. Nancy Bernardino, reads. “However, please know that steps are being taken to ensure that the support and guidance from a strong campus leadership team will always be in place at Dealey. We are undergoing a rigorous search process for a dedicated and passionate leader, which will include opportunities for parent input.”

Dealey has stated Ibarra left due to “personnel” reasons and she will be transitioning to another Dallas ISD campus. On Tuesday, Ibarra responded with her email.

“I appreciate everyone’s support during this transition in leadership,” her email reads. “I will always have the best interest of Dealey students, staff and community in my heart.”

A new principal will be announced the first week of October after principal profile meetings with teachers and staff and then a community panel.
