Dallas police officers sustained injuries while responding to a shooting call last week in the 3100 block of Community Drive.

Following a preliminary investigation, officers immediately transported the victim to a nearby hospital. The victim is now in stable condition. The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Angel Morales, attempted to escape through a window but was apprehended and charged with aggravated assault.

While the police wrapped up their investigation, an uninvolved driver, Christopher Ramirez, drove through the crime scene’s perimeter and hit police equipment and a squad car. The impact caused an officer who was inside the car to be thrown from the vehicle. Three other officers who were standing near the hit car were also injured. All four officers were transported to a local hospital and are reported to be in stable condition.

Ramirez stayed and the scene and faces four counts of aggravated assault and four counts of passing and authorized emergency vehicle.

According to Dallas police, there has not been any indication that the driver was impaired or under the influence at the time of the crash.

The investigation is still ongoing.
