Former President George W. Bush, also a former owner of the Texas Rangers, threw the ceremonial first pitch at the World Series in Arlington on Friday night.

Bush and his wife, Laura, attended the first World Series game at Globe Life Field between the Texas Rangers and the Arizona Diamondbacks. He was joined by the Rangers’ Hall of Famer, Ivan ‘Pudge’ Rodriguez to throw the first ceremonial pitch. Although the first pitch bounced, Bush and Rodriguez left the field in good spirits. Later in the evening, the Rangers secured a 6-5 victory over the Diamondbacks.

Before his presidency, Bush was a part-owner of the Texas Rangers. He also threw the first pitch for a World Series game at the Yankees game on Oct. 30, 2001, seven weeks after 9/11. The throw was successful.

and he and Laura Bush continue to be frequent attendees at the games.

The World Series continued with the Diamondbacks winning on Saturday, 9-1, and the Rangers securing a 3-1 victory on Saturday. The next game is scheduled for tonight at 7 p.m., marking the fourth game in this best-of-seven series.

Another Dallas neighbor, Frank Gomez, had the honor of throwing the first pitch for a Rangers game back in June, and some believe that’s when the Rangers’ streak of good luck began.
