Starting on Sunday, shoppers will recognize the tallest indoor tree in the country, standing at 95 feet tall, but this year, the tree is getting a facelift.

The tree which has been a centerpiece for decades, will now feature new branches, ornaments and lighting. A team of 50 hardworking elves were behind the tree setup, taking five days to install 717 new branches. The new branches will be fuller this year compared to previous years. It took nearly 14,000 shop hours to hand-sew the twigs into place.

Another improvement to the classic tree is the new LED lighting by Twinkly that will make it more bright, animated and immersive for light shows. Twinkly, an Italian-based smart lighting brand, also lit the tree in the Vatican and will now be privy to the nation’s tallest indoor tree right here in Dallas. The light shows will include dancing reindeer, Santa Claus and floating candy canes and holiday gifts.

“The holiday season has always been our time to shine at Galleria Dallas,” Galleria Dallas general manager, Angie Freed, said. “The beautiful handiwork and visually stunning technology will truly allow us to create the biggest, brightest, merriest holiday experiences for all of North Texas.”

It wouldn’t be a show-stopper without a 100-pound, 10-foot LED star at the top. It’s the first of its kind in the United States. The tree also will hold 15,000 new colored ball ornaments to hang from its branches.

The lights on the tree will “dance” in sync to orchestrated music. Starting on Black Friday, the Illumination Celebration will occur daily at noon, 2, 4, 6 and 8 p.m.

Galleria Dallas urges shoppers to go during the Grand Tree Lightings at noon on Black Friday, Nov. 24 and Saturday, Nov. 25. For more free shows and entertainment, visit their website.
