Over the weekend, Dallas Police Department K9 officer Apollo and his handler, Senior Corporal Angela Arredono, traveled to the Super Bowl in Las Vegas.

While typically at Dallas Love Field, the duo embarked on a two day journey to assist in detecting explosive devices and other threats at Allegiant Stadium. They announced their trip on social media on Feb. 1 and the week leading up to the big game while also documenting their journey along the way including making stops at Cadillac Ranch, Albuquerque and the Hoover Dam.

Apollo and Arredono were among 80 officer and canine teams from across the nation, including teams from Houston, Austin and San Antonio, Arredono told WFAA.

During the Super Bowl, the German Shorthaired Pointer sniffed out potential threats at the stadium before the Kansas City Chiefs played the San Francisco 49ers.

“I cannot express my gratitude enough for this amazing adventure with my K9 partner,” Arredono wrote on X, previously Twitter. “Once in a lifetime!”

This wasn’t their first time leaving their regular airport duties to detect threats at stadiums. Last fall, Apollo and Arredono were at the Cotton Bowl where the Texas Longhorns played the Oklahoma Sooners.

After completing their assignment, the duo will return to Dallas.
