Last Thursday, a notice terminating the lease was posted on Landmark’s Inwood Theatre doors due to late rental payments.

The notice cites “default payment” as the reason for the termination and property repossession. Lease amendments date back to November 1988. The Advocate reported the temporary closure on Thursday and on Saturday, Feb. 24, the theatre reopened for Los Bastardos’ monthly Rocky Horror Picture Show shadow cast performance.

“The performance was great and it was actually one of our better performances in a while because everyone rallied so hard around it,” member of Los Bastardos, Victor Entropy, said.

Entropy, a member of Los Bastardos, was in contact with manager Linda Winbigler until midday Friday, a day before their evening performance. On Friday, Winbigler called to tell them “she was going to unlock the theatre and everything had been sorted out.”

“The theatre is back up and we’re scheduled to be back there the next last Saturday of every month,” Entropy said.

While there has been no official statement from Landmark Theatre representatives, showtimes have reappeared on their website. However, the theater’s phone line still directs callers to voicemail with an automated message indicating temporary closure.

This week, the notice about the lease is gone and an Inwood Theatre employee confirmed they are and will be open, but could not provide further information.

“It feels like a home to us,” Entropy said. “I really thought it was gonna be closed, but we’re very glad that everything started back up.”
