The Preston Royal Branch of the Dallas Public Library commemorates its 60th anniversary this weekend with a special celebration.

Opened on March 21, 1964, the library stands as the oldest and unrefurbished branch in Dallas’ library system. Festivities kick off at the library on Saturday, March 23, starting at 10 a.m.

The event features various activities, including a performance by Beckles Dancing Company at 11 a.m., a cupcake walk, a children’s birthday card crafting station, and more. Additionally, the library will showcase historic photos dating back to its opening day. Attendees can also reminisce about their cherished memories of the library at the Memory Share Center.

According to Preston Royal Branch Library, it’s also become one of the busiest branches in the system. “We hear many stories from patrons who used to come to Preston Royal as a child and now they bring their children and grandchildren to share the Preston Royal experience.”

The event is sponsored by the Friends of Library – Preston Royal Branch.
