Tricky Fish, a local Cajun-inspired seafood chain, officially closed its Preston Hollow location this month.

The neighborhood Cajun seafood chain announced it would shut down its Dallas location. Tricky Fish first opened in Preston Hollow Village in 2021. The restaurant closed at the end of March and announced earlier this month that the Dallas location would be permanently closed.

“We’ve made the decision to close our Walnut Hill location,” a post said on April 2, providing no further explanation about the closure.

Tricky Fish became a neighborhood staple with fresh seafood dishes, platters and sandwiches. Not to mention the cocktail menu full of the iconic “painkiller” Mai Tai and the Louisana Purchase, a spin on the classic rum and coke.

The restaurant joined the neighborhood three years ago from former Razzoo’s Cajun Cafe president, Chris Degan. While at Razzoo’s, Deagan dubbed a dish “tricky fish” and later served as the namesake of his restaurant chain.

“Preston Hollow is a great part of town, and it seemed like it would be something that would hit our market pretty good too,” he said in 2022.

While the restaurant will be missed, Tricky Fish remains open at its three other locations in Frisco, Fort Worth and Richardson.
