DeGoyler Elementary unveiled a new “buddy bench” at its playground. The student council came up with the concept for the bench as a place for kids to sit with a friend. A DeGoyler parent helped with its design and construction. A donation from alumni Marc and Kyle Talbert, in honor of their deceased parents, Henry and Bodie Talbert, funded the project.

Marsh Middle School’s production of “The Yellow Boat” won first place at the UIL DISD Middle School theater arts festival. The play, written by David Saar and directed by Marsh’s Wendy Powell, is the true story of Mr. Saar’s son, Benjamin, who had hemophilia and contracted HIV through a blood transfusion. Benjamin died in 1987 at the age of 8. In addition to winning the overall play competition, Jackson Kricken won best actor and Hannah Young, Cameron Frankel, Lily Coffman, and Major Moore were named to the All-Star cast. Marsh also won honorable mention for Best Tech. This victory marks the third UIL win in a row for Marsh.
