The Churchill Recreation Center has expanded, adding a new 1,500-square-foot fitness center and a multipurpose room. The ribbon-cutting ceremony is set for 10 a.m. April 21.

With the renovation came a slew of new classes beginning soon, including a children’s Irish dance class.

Katie Crowley of Crú Capaill Academy of Irish Dance begins an eight-week session April 2-May 21 for ages 6-14.Crowley knows her stuff. She’s been Irish dancing for 23 years, having achieved several Top 25 national placements. She also competed at the World Championships in Ireland.She began teaching at age 13 and is one of only nine certified Irish dance teachers in Texas.

Registration for the upcoming session is $120, and you need a City of Dallas recreation card to participate. Cards are free for ages 1-5, $2 for ages 6-11 and $5 for ages 12-17.

There are several other new classes at Churchill for adults such as square and round dancing, Pilates, Zumba, boot camp, hip-hop, jazz and “Score” fitness for seniors. View the entire brochure here.
