That lovely little creek that runs along Northaven Park stays so scenic because neighbors put a lot of TLC into keeping it that way. If you’d like to lend a hand, the Northaven Neighborhood Association is organizing a Joe’s Creek cleanup this Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Everyone will meet at the tennis courts at 8:45, and is asked to bring any trimmers or gardening tools they have.

Pumpkins are popping up on doorsteps and the mercury is steadily dropping. Get in the autumn spirit with a classic fall carnival at the Dallas International School this Saturday from 2-6 p.m. For $8 (or $12 for kids) you get admission to the carnival, a drink, a pizza buffet, access to the bounce house, and some other fun activities. And if you buy 50-cent tickets, you can also enjoy some rides and fair-style games.

The North Texas Orchid Society
will also be hosting a free show at North Haven Gardens Saturday and Sunday. You can check out more than 30 types of exotic orchids, and experts will be giving demos and tips all day.
