The demolition of Fire Station 41 on Royal Lane may take place today, according to Jason Evans at Dallas City Hall. “Based upon the latest information I have, demolition of Fire Station 41 could begin as early as Monday, Feb. 17, and is expected to take a couple of weeks before clean-up is done.” Evans updated that information and predicted the demolition would be Feb. 18. “The station will be rebuilt on the same plot of land, but that isn’t expected to begin until 2021.” A temporary station will be erected near the site.

Station 41, known as the “Preston Royal Fire Department,” was hit by the Oct. 20 tornado. “It’s more than a fire station,” neighbor Ron Hodgkinson told CBSDFW. “It’s a landmark. It’s important for it to be here. It’s important because a lot of the people that live here are older.”
