Braniff Airlines built “The Terminal of The Future” at Love Field Airport in 1968. This vintage news story features the computerized arrivals and departures board, “the only one of its kind in the world,” as well as the groovy waiting lounge and two classic Braniff air hostesses. A $150 million renovation of the bygone airline’s terminal, originally built in 1958, is nearing completion. The developers landed a brewery tenant, expected to open next year, and it’s already home to the largest Lincoln dealership in the world. (More)

 

THE BACK STORY
Fair food: The first Black concessionnaire opened at the State Fair of Texas in 1964, three years after the fair was desegregated. Little Bob’s BBQ was the only Black-owned food vendor at the fair until the early 1980s. Now, about half are. (More)
