Galleria Dallas has teamed up with the Family Place to promote domestic violence prevention throughout October.

For the past three decades, Galleria Dallas and The Family Place have partnered together to advocate for the end of domestic violence during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which spans the month of October.

The Family Place, the largest family violence service agency in Texas for 45 years, collaborates with Galleria Dallas annually for a Partners Card initiative. From Oct. 27 to Nov. 5, approximately 20 retailers at the mall will sell and accept the Partners Card. Priced at $75, the card grants shoppers a 20% discount at participating retailers and a 10% discount at participating restaurants.

“The staggering statistics reveal that one in three Texans experiences domestic violence, and the Dallas Police department receives approximately 15,000 family violence calls every year,” CEO of The Family Place, Mimi Sterling, said. “The prominence of the Gallery Wall at Galleria Dallas allows us to effectively engage and educate thousands of young people with vital information about how to build healthy relationships based on respect that will lead to brighter futures.”

Galleria Dallas will showcase the organization on its Gallery Wall, located on level one. Shoppers can contribute $5 to The Family Place, which will cover one day of meals for a survivor in a shelter. The public educational campaign is titled “Choose Love Over Violence,” aimed at reminding viewers to cultivate relationships rooted in respect and love while also paying tribute to survivors of domestic violence. The Gallery Wall will highlight the organization’s message from Oct. 2 to Oct. 31.

“We are so proud of the long history we share with The Family Place,” Galleria Dallas director of marketing, Megan Townsend, said. “Domestic violence touches so many lives in North Texas, and if we can help even one family, we’ll feel this has been worthwhile.”
