Dirk Nowitzki will join Tony Romo, Jason Kidd, Tyler Seguin and John Isner in a “Celebrity Pickleball Showdown” on Tuesday, November 7 at 7 p.m. in Farmers Branch.
A group of the Carvana PPA Tour’s top athletes will team up with Nowitzki, Romo, Kidd, Seguin and Isner on the Championship Court. The 2023 Biofreeze USA PickleBall National Championships and Invited and the PPA Tour will have the match at Brookhaven Country Club in Farmers Branch.
“We can’t wait to welcome the pickleball world to Dallas for the biggest-ever celebration of our wonderful sport to date. Dirk, Tony, Jason, Tyler and John were eager to be a part of the record-setting USA Pickleball National Championships at Brookhaven and experience the festivities for themselves, so they’re thrilled to hit the court and join the fun,” local Dallas senior pro and official broadcast voice of the PPA Tour, Dave Fleming, said. “Championship Court will be buzzing to see these outstanding athletes go head-to-head in North Texas. We invite everyone to come out and enjoy this special event and the unique experience that Nationals will offer.”
Over 3,500 amateur and professional players will compete at Nationals for the biggest prize purse in the event’s history. More than 20,000 attendees are expected to see the pickleball action at Brookhaven. This event will also act as a Guinness World Record attempt for the Largest Pickleball match. Dozens of musical acts will take the stage including American Idol winner Phillip Phillips and the hippie sensation, Le Freak.
In addition to music, there will also be beer gardens, culinary immersions, tasting rooms, interactive games, kid-friendly activities and customized merch will also be included in the immersive experience.
Earlier this year, Nowitzki was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame after 21 seasons with the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks. He will be joined by Tony Romo from the Dallas Cowboys, Jason Kidd from the Dallas Mavericks, NHL’s Dallas Stars veteran Tyler Seguin and 16-time singles champion on the ATP Tour, John Isner.
