The Family Place recently announced that Mimi Sterling has stepped down as CEO just after two years and there will be an interim CEO until a new CEO is named.

In 2021, Sterling replaced longtime CEO Paige Flink who retired after 30 years with the family violence non-profit agency. The Family Place’s chief operating officer Tiffany McDaniel was named interim CEO.

“Mimi shared with the board and The Family Place staff she plans to spend more time with her family and eventually return to professional life,” a statement reads. “The Family Place is grateful to Mimi for her service over the last two years and we wish her all the very best in this next chapter.”

Before The Family Place, Sterling worked for a couple of years at the Neiman Marcus Group and was the vice president of environmental social governance and belonging. Before that, she worked for 15 years in luxury fashion and lifestyle public relations, branding and marketing in New York City.

“The board of directors led by the executive committee intends to conduct an exhaustive and thorough search for our next CEO,” the statement continued. “In the meantime, the staff and board of The Family Place remain committed to our mission of ending domestic violence and continuing to serve the hundreds of women and men who rely on us for shelter and support.”

The news comes as The Family Place gets ready for its annual Partners Card that starts this Friday, Oct. 27. It brings attention to Domestic Violence Awareness Month. There are over 700 retailers in the area participating including Galleria Dallas. The Partners Card continues through Nov. 5.
