Galleria Dallas closes the year with its last art exhibition from Dallas-based artist Melissa Ellis. The exhibition will be on view from Oct. 27 to Dec. 31.

Ellis is an accomplished artist with a two-decade career. She holds an MA degree from Louisiana State University and recently completed an artist residency at Chateaux Orquevaux in France. Her work is a distinctive style of ‘organized chaos.’ Using a palette knife, she skillfully carves various patterns, shapes, motion, texture and depth into each painting. This technique is called Impasto painting.

“Melissa’s works are striking, with bold colors and sculptural elements that really make a statement,” Galleria Dallas director of marketing, Megan Townsend said. “We’re happy to share her unique voice with our shoppers through the end of the year.”

Ellis is a member of the all-female artist collective ALG Collective in the Design District and a partner of Louis Vuitton, having created a starburst painting that now resides in the brand’s permanent art collection.

Her latest collection, Bijoux, which is the French word for jewel, is inspired by her world travels.

“The mystical colors, sights, sounds, tastes and shapes hidden around every corner are the things that truly awaken her curiosity.” a statement describes. “And it is from those unique and wild discoveries from across the globe that she has brought to life in full 3D effect from her boundless imagination to her luxurious oil paintings.”

The exhibit is open to the public and will be on view in the Art Window on level one near Tommy Bahama.
