The final completion of Fire Station 41 at Preston and Royal Lane is expected to be ready for occupancy by the end of the year after three years and some delays.

The firehouse was destroyed by the October 2019 tornado and has since operated from a temporary location since August 31, situated at 5807 Royal Lane, down the street from its original site at 5920 Royal Lane.

Fire and rescue chief Dominique Artis is optimistic that the new facility will be ready for occupation by the end of December.

Dallas City Council approved a $6.1 million contract to rebuild the fire station’s original 5920 Royal Lane location during a meeting in 2021. Construction began in 2022 but was halted.

Once the temporary station closes, the crew will relocate to a nearby station until the new station is fully operational.
