The Pei Wei location at Preston Forest Shopping Center closed two weeks ago and Oishii, a Dallas sushi favorite, is already set to move in.

Pei Wei’s closure on February 26 adds to recent shutdowns at North Texas locations, including Garland Road in Casa Linda Plaza and the Knox Henderson site.

According to a neighbor on the Nextdoor app, Pei Wei plans to relocate across the street near Chipotle, aiming for a mid-summer reopening.

Oishii, a Japanese term for ;delicious;, has five other Dallas locations, will move into the shopping center. Their SMU menu offers sushi, sashimi, classic rolls, signature rolls and specialty entrees. In addition to the fresh dishes, they have half-price wine nights at all locations.

Stockdale Investment Group, which manages the Preston Forest Shopping Center, confirmed the new tenant in a LinkedIn post.

An employee at the Pei Wei Belt Line location, which is now the nearest one to Preston Forest, did not confirm the reason for the closure or the exact date for the reopening.

Whole Foods anchors the shopping center alongside Haystacks Burgers and Barley, Merit Coffee and Hudson House opening later this year. Speculation suggests high rent rates may have prompted Pei Wei’s move and lease non-renewal.

Oishii aims to open at Preston Forest Shopping Center this fall or in 2025.
