Preston Hollow residents will soon have an even quicker commute to the raw bar delights (lobster rolls, oysters, etc.) and “world’s coldest martinis” (so they boast) of Hudson House, now with locations in nearby Park Cities and Lakewood (another Advocate coverage area) as well as Las Colinas and Addison.
That’s right. Come 2024, Preston Hollow will have a Hudson House of its very own, at Preston-Forest, in the former Corner Bakery space at 11700 Preston.
Since opening in Highland Park in 2017, Hudson House established itself as a seafood-lover favorite around Dallas and expanded across the country, including a location on Sunset Boulevard in Beverly Hills. The Preston Hollow store will be its eighth.
While known for its ocean-to-table fare, the Lakewood Advocate has reported that “the cheeseburger is the must-try menu item—made with two thin patties, American cheese, minced onion, pickles and Hudson sauce — that you’ll forget came from a neighborhood seafood joint.”
Hudson House offers six types of oysters, which are shipped daily from the East Coast. Selections are marked with recommendations; the raw bar menu is friendly for aficionados and newcomers to the genre alike.
“The whole idea behind our menu is that it is something we have found pleases the crowd, and we’re keeping it small, but dynamic in the ingredients,” said James Douglas, the Vandelay Hospitality Group chief culinary officer who created the menu for the Lakewood outpost. “We’re refining the ingredients, going farm to table. People will enjoy it.”
As promoters from Vandelay put it, “Hudson House focuses on preparation and consistent presentation with precise, impactful flavors and colorful detail.”
Last year Douglas told the Advocate the culinary program was still in its infancy. So, by 2024, expect that menu to be even more finely tuned.
The Preston Village opening will mark Vandelay’s third brand serving the Preston Hollow community; joining D.L. Mack’s and the forthcoming Anchor Fishbar at the Preston & Royal Shopping Center.
