W.T. White has joined the ranks of Texas’ top schools, according to the Texas Education Agency (TEA).

The North Dallas high school is among the state’s “most distinct,” based on the TEA’s 2017 accountability reports. State-mandated tests, known as STAAR exams, are used to determine rankings.

Schools also can achieve distinctions in seven categories, which range from closing performance gaps to postsecondary readiness.

W.T. White is Dallas ISD’s only comprehensive high school to earn all seven distinctions.

Preston Hollow’s Walnut Hill Elementary and George Bannerman Dealey International Academy also earned all seven  — an honor both schools were close to achieving in 2016.
