U.S. Congressman Colin Allred, a 2001 Hillcrest graduate, will serve as the grand marshal of the Hillcrest High School homecoming parade. Thursday, Oct. 10, at 5:15 p.m. The North Texas Jeep Club will provide transportation for the homecoming court and guests. The celebration continues on Friday, Oct. 11, with tailgating, reunions and the football game, to be held at Franklin Field at 7:00 p.m. The homecoming dance is Saturday evening, October 12. Here’s what’s going on at the school:

  • Construction will be done in the spring, adding 28 new classrooms, a new competition gym, weight room and a new administration wing.
  • The football team is 5–0 overall and 1-0 in district play – the first ranked Hillcrest football team since 2005.
  • Volleyball has four teams with a total of 48 players (29 are freshmen).
  • The first IB group of 20 seniors are expected to graduate in 2020.
  • The Hillcrest Engineering Program received funding from The Junior League’s Grant for Innovative Teaching. The grant was awarded for “Solder Day is the Best Day,” a program that gives engineering students experience learning to solder and making a project.
  • Five Hillcrest Band students performed with the University of Oklahoma marching band during half-time of the Sooners football game against he University of South Dakota.

Here’s the parade route:

Parade entrants will set up in the Franklin Field parking lot at Airline and Lakehurst and will pull out of the lot at 5:15. The parade route circles the Hillcrest and Franklin Middle School campuses, beginning along Lakehurst, turning right onto Airline and then right onto Aberdeen. The parade continues along Hillcrest in front of the school and turns right on Meadow to end back in the Franklin Field parking lot.
