Key lime pie gelato. (Coutesy Botolino.)

This summer, North Texas has braved against an intense heat warning and has hit the triple index multiple times.

According to the Weather Channel, July was the hottest recorded month for most of the nation and the South in particular. Dallas has always been the nutshell for sizzling heat and with no signs of the miserable heat waining off anytime soon, there are at least a few ways around North Dallas to not melt away.

1. Botolino Gelato Artigianale

The easiest and most delicious way to melt off the heat is with a hefty scoop at Botolino. Their gelato is said to be the perfect dose of thick and creamy without being too much. The variety of flavors makes it so there’s something for everyone.

2. Shops at NorthPark

It might be a good idea to seek shelter from the heat by finding a good distraction from the many shops at NorthPark. Although they are especially known for their endless retail rows, they also have exhibitions that change frequently. Right now, they have CANstruction, the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center exhibition, and other pop-up shows.

3. Cryo1one

For a fast-acting chill, there’s always the new fad of cryotherapy, better known as cold therapy. While it is a good dive into a shortcut to feeling colder in Texas, it also has been known to treat tissue lesions and increase endorphins. Dallas is just in luck because there are many locations and Cyro1one at Preston and Royal has been the most acclaimed with more than seven years in the business.

4. Museum of Biblical Art

Dallas is a great hub for museums and the Museum of Biblical Art located conveniently next to the NorthPark boasts an expansive place for Biblically-themed art. The museum has its permanent collection as well as a rotating list of exhibitions. If you are still wanting a little sun on your shoulders, the Via Dolorosa Sculpture Garden is always open to the public during regular hours.

5. Crisp & Green

Crisp & Green is a perfect balance of refreshing menu items such as salads, smoothies, and cold desserts. While some heated food just makes it a little more unbearable, Crisp & Green is light and has several salads and juices that some people have made staples.

6. Trova Wine + Market

Another chill refreshment is a dedicated trip to Trova where you can either sit and have a bubbly glass or take a bottle home. The sommelier-driven market hones in on a curated selection of wine. Besides wine, they also have a small bistro menu of charcuterie boards, artisan sandwiches, and small plates.

7. Central Market classes

Central Market has offered a robust list of culinary classes to change up the home cooking routine. This month, they have classes to sharpen your knife skills, classes for couples, and dish specific such as beef wellington and croissants. Next month, they are bringing back their Passport event with a foodie deep-dive into Portugal.
