Arizona-based pizza concept Doughbird begins construction at its inaugural Texas location on Lovers Lane at Inwood Village.

According to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation and Development Services Building Inspection Division, the new spot will occupy the former Bread Winners Cafe & Bakery space at 5560 W. Lovers Ln which announced its closure in May 2022.

Covering 5,258 square feet as per the filing report, the space will feature an exterior patio fit for Texas summers.

This venture marks Fox Restaurant Concepts’ first Doughbird in Texas, adding to its portfolio of three locations in Arizona and one in Tennessee. The company is already familiar to the Dallas area, boasting Flower Child outlets, The Henry, North Italia opening at Galleria Dallas later this year, and Culinary Dropout, also set to debut soon. Doughbird will neighbor Flower Child in Inwood Village.

The menu offers a blend of comfort and offbeat creations, featuring house-made pizzas and chicken options.

Starters include cast iron shishito peppers, Lebanese hummus and truffle bread. Pizza selections range from traditional pepperoni and Margherita to inventive offerings like sweet potato and Brussels sprout, barbecue chicken, and one with prosciutto, date and pistachio.

The restaurant also serves rotisserie chicken and tenders that can be dressed up with a variety of sauces.

In addition to pizza, Doughbird offers a selection of cocktails, including piña coladas, mules and margaritas. Their twist on the classic margarita adds spice or peach yuzu flavors.

Doughbird secured the spot in December 2023 and received approval on Jan. 31, 2024.

The opening is set for late 2024, but promises to open by 2025.
